From the Vorderer Gosausee you can get to the Hinterer Gosausee in just under 1.5 hours on foot or with the Hochgebirgsexpress if you book in advance by calling Tel: Mr. Schweighofer +43(0)664/4253513. Along the way you will also pass the “Glücksplatz Gosaulacke”. When you arrive at the Hintere Gosausee there is a managed hut. (It is also the starting point to the Adamek Hut)
From Gosausee you can reach the Zwieselalm on foot in about 1 hour or you can take the Gosaukammbahn up. Once you have arrived at the Zwieselalm, well-marked hiking trails with gentle inclines lead to the Gablonzerhütte and Breininghütte (10 minutes), further to the Sonnenalm (20 minutes) and up to the Zwieselalmhöhe (30 minutes). From there you can enjoy the wonderful view over the Dachstein.
The starting point is the forest road between Gasthof Gosauschmied and Gasthof Gamsjäger. Well signposted and marked from the edge of the forest, crossing the forest road several times, the path leads to the Badstub’n hut. After a few minutes’ walk you can admire the Schleifsteinbrüche. Well rested, you can then make your way to the Löckermoos high moor; that in 2015 9 places 9 treasures was voted the most beautiful place. Once at the top you can enjoy the wonderful air and the untouched nature.
The path leads along the foot of the Dachstein around the Vordere Gosausee. On the theme trail you will find 11 objects where you can experience the numerous facets of water. Walking time is approx. 1 hour.

You have the opportunity to fish in the reservoir and in the Gosaubach. You can get licenses and fishing permits at the Gasthof Gosauschmied or at the tourist office. We would be happy to prepare your freshly caught fish for you for a small additional charge.

Climbing enthusiasts don’t miss out either. Numerous via ferratas will make your heart beat faster.
The Schmied via ferrata is a 640 m long via ferrata of medium difficulty. It crosses the wall above the reservoir in Gosau-Hintertal. Due to the two emergency exits and the proximity to the valley, the trail can also be climbed in less safe weather.
The motto for the sporting summit victory on the Großer Donnerkogel is to hold on and climb. Here the climbing part becomes a challenge even for experienced climbers. The start to the sporty climbing fun is at the Gablonzerhütte, near the mountain station of the Gosaukammbahn.
The Laserer Alpine via ferrata runs directly over the water of the Vorderen Gosausee. It is a well-secured Plaisir via ferrata with 420 meters of climbing. The tour is very scenic thanks to the constant view of the Dachstein and the proximity to the lake.
Is a short, fun but very rewarding climb with difficulty D.
The Lammertal riding estate is just a 15-minute drive away. Riders of all ages and levels of training meet there. Regardless of whether you want to learn to ride, refresh your knowledge or simply leave the stress of everyday life behind you on a long ride – the Reitgut Lammertal is the right address for you!

The Gosau Alps are a hit all year round. In summer, countless kilometers of cycling and mountain bike routes make up the bike center of the Alps. Here are a few of our favorite mountain bike routes. Of course there are also guided mountain bike and e-bike tours.
The tour starts at the Gasthof Gosauschmied up to the Vorderen Gosausee. Follow the Forstalmstraße on the left, which leads past the Ebenalm and the Grubenalm to the Rossalm. Once again we go briefly uphill, past the Transit Alm and downhill into the Echerntal. Enjoy the wonderful panorama and take the time to visit Hallstatt before you drive on the lakeside road of Lake Hallstatt towards Gosaumühle and continue through the Gosauzwang back to the starting point.
Distance: 42.5 km
Altitude: 1262m
Duration: approximately 4 to 6 hours
Difficulty level: 4
Signage: Plassenrunde
Start is 160 meters in front of the Gosauschmied inn. There you turn left onto the steeper forest road. After about 4 km, at a junction, continue straight on towards Grubenalm and reach the Schleifsteinbruch/Grubenalm intersection at km 7.5. Then take a sharp right uphill to the highest point of the tour (1447 m). During the descent you can enjoy the beautiful view of Gosaukamm and the Dachstein massif. At the Ebenalm/Grubenalm junction turn right, past the Ebenalm and after a steeper descent you reach the Vorderen Gosausee. Cycle straight ahead towards Gasthaus Gosausee and continue down the main road to the pond near the power plant. Before the pond, turn right onto the gravel path, straight ahead to the back side of the pond. This then leads back down to the Gosauschmied inn.
Route length: 18.6 km
Altitude: 670m
Duration: approx. 2 to 3 hours
Difficulty level: 3
Signage: Seekarrunde
Cycle from the Gasthof Gosauschmied along the Gosaubach to the tourist office and follow the B166 towards Pass G Schütt. After 2 km turn right onto the forest road towards Goisererhütte. After just a few km you have reached the Iglmoosalm. If you want, you can continue cycling for about half an hour to the Goisererhütte and enjoy the wonderful view down to the Goiserertal. After a long rest, we return to the valley on the same path.
Distance: 23 km
Altitude: 760m
Duration: approx. 3 hours
Difficulty level: 3
